What’s a Gravatar? Why do I need one? Here’s a quick description that the fine folks at Gravatar put together just for you.

I’ve been a avid user of 1Password from AgileWebSolutions for 5+ years, and have found it to be an indispensable tool for my computer and my iphone. No longer do I spend time coming up with super strong passwords and remembering them for every site I have access to. 1password has been the solution for mac users only until Oct. 13th when they announced the Beta version for Windows.
Why do you need a program like 1Password?
- Using the same password for every website you use is a really bad idea. See this article from the NY Times.
- Remembering a different password for every website you use is no fun.
- You suck at coming up with good passwords.
- You often use your computer at free wifi spots .

I can’t recommend people to BaseCampHQ.com from 37Signals enough. There online tools are intuitive, easy to use and inexpensive. For the light users it’s even free! I’ve been using Basecamp for years to keep track of projects, store information and coordinate tasks among my collaborators. The only reason I’ve ever heard of someone not liking BaseCamp is because they don’t like to have to go login to another website, remember another password, and always be checking it. A few years ago, BaseCamp added the feature that allows you to be alerted via email when you there is a comment, image or task assigned to you. To top it, they now allow you to reply to this notification email and post your response onto the BaseCamp project. So for those who like having the entire stream of communication in one place can be logged in, and those not to be bothered can be involved using their email.
